Chapter 4:WELCOME TO THE FAMILY

NOTE: This is not Shilpa's pov. It's Armaan's story. This is the link to the song below,

Listen to it, it's beautiful!

Chapter 4

Armaan had a fairly standard childhood. He had two loving parents, a grandfather and a little sister. Life was fine.

He remembers his sister, his younger sister, two years younger to him. His lovely sister, a very sickly girl. To be honest, he was jealous of her, she was very sick and got all of his parent's attention which her craved for. He is a child and he would behave like one. He wished that she would go away somewhere so he'd have his parents all of himself, but that didn't mean that he hated her, he shared some wonderful memories with her.

He remembers the time when both of them ran around the house, playing hide and seek. He found australian two cent coin from his grandfather's collection, there was a picture of a weird lizard like creature at the back of the coin, he took it to his sister and both of them pretended that the lizard was a kind of superhero who would punish the people who farted in public, she drew a picture of the lizard with a red underwear, they decided to name it "LizardChaddi Man".

It wasn't a shock when she died, she was very sick for days and died at the hospital. It was only then he realized how much he missed her around. He missed her greeting him after he came back from school, her messy hair and mud stained dress, she would hug him, but he would always push her away, 'girls are yucky' he thought.

<Older brother, restless soul, lie down
Lie for a while with your ear against the earth
And you’ll hear your sister sleep talking
Say, “Your hair is long but not long enough to reach
Home to me
But your beard
Someday might be”>

He put the two cent coin in her her coffin, he thought the 'LizardChaddi Man' would keep her company when they put her under the ground and protect her from monsters.

"Wouldn't it be hard for her to breathe?" he asked his mum, it was scary, she would be under the ground where she would have no one to speak to, she can't move, she can't escape from monsters.

"God has taken her, beta, she can't feel anything, she's with god" his mum said. He put the superhero coin inside anyway, just in case, along with her other favored belongings.

<And she woke up in a cold sweat on the floor
Next to a family portrait drawn when you were four
And beside a jar of two cent coins that are no good no more
She’ll lay it aside>

Maybe Arya and LizardChaddi man could go on together fighting farting crimes together.

-----------
Things weren't easy after Arya's death, His parents decided to part ways and filed for a divorce, which they got. A death of a child causing a divorce is no new thing, it has happened a lot if times, but this didn't have a good impact on Armaan. Both his parents sought out ways to move on from Arya's death that they completely ignored Armaan sometimes. It had been six months since Arya's death an d four months since his parents divorce and both successfully succeeded in ignoring him.

<Older father, weary soul, you’ll drive
Back to the home you made on the mountainside
With that ugly, terrible thing
Those papers for divorce
And a lonely ring
A lonely ring
Sit on your porch
And pluck your strings

Oh, and you’ll find somebody you can blame
And you’ll follow the creek that runs out into the sea
And you’ll find the peace of the Lord.>

----------

The only one who still spent time with him probably was his grandfather, a very old man who still mourned the death of his wife, who like Arya, died of cancer. Different kind of cancer, though, Arya had blood cancer while grandma had skin cancer.

<Grandfather, weary soul, you’ll fly
Over your life once more before you die
Since our grandma passed away
You’ve waited for forever and a day
Just to die
And someday soon
You will die

It was the only woman you ever loved
That got burnt by the sun too often when she was young
And the cancer spread and it ran into her body and her blood
And there’s nothing you can do about it now>

Though Armaan loved his grandfather, it was obvious he would die soon. Armaan prays everyday that god would never take grandpa away from him.

--------------------------

Hey, I know it's a little different from the other chapters and that's why I'm nervous, the other chapters were loved so much and this is not very funny. It's a little sad. I really hope you like it.

love,
Sophia
