part 27 : Aradhana - Anmol Bandhan

Surya announced his decision to leave for Hyderabad for the next available train. Dilip was stunned as he had no clue about the discussions between Sarma couple since last night. "Kyon itni jaldi chaley jana chahtey ho, baava? Aur do din ruk jaata. Bhai dhuj tak ruk jao. Naina ki koyi saga bhai nahin hai. Tumhara saat hi tyohar manaayegi. Bhai dhuj aur raakhi ko humara bachay bahut maantay hai. Tumhey maloom hoga iske barein mein."

Gayatri interrupted, "haan, Dilip Bhai! Humey pata hai. Humara, Shah pariwar ki beti, Sapna hai na. Uski saat hum bhi hur Gujarati tyohar manaate hai."

Surya sharply looked at her for her statements. "Gayatri ka matlab hai Kripa yeh sab maanti hai. Hum kahan wo sab jaantey hai. Humara tyohar toh alag hai na." He didn't like to lie about others' festivities which he never followed religiously. Dilip and Naina exchanged looks. Devyani also pleaded Surya to stay back for some more days. "nahin bua! Hum abb aur nahin ruk sakte. Schools reopening hogaya hai aur humey jana hoga. Phir kabhi aram se milengey. Ageley baar aap sab humare ghar aajana." He invited everyone as took the opportunity.

Dilip and Naina expected him to talk about Kripa's proposal. Devyani decided to take advantage of Surya's invitation, "Kyon nahin, Surya! Jaroor ayengey. Kripa aur Angad ka nishchitardh (engagement) toh karna hai na."

Before Surya said something, Anittah barged into their conversation. "Mama ji! Aapko Mannan se kya problem hai? Why are you making mountain out of mold hill? Aap jaantey hi kitni Manna aur mere barein mein?"

All elders stunned at her sudden encroach. Surya didn't like her rude talk as intruded when elders were seriously discussing. He kept silent and Naina tried to send away Anittah. "Anittah! Can we talk about this later? Yahan badey baatein kar rahey hai na? Yeh batein hum baad mein karengey." Anittah became furious, "Why do he care about me and Mannan?" She stomped her feet and left when Naina furiously looked at her.

Naina was embarrassed at Anittah's behavior. She brought a fake smile on her face to cover up. "Surya! Gayatri! Main bhi aapke baatein sun chuka hoon jab aap apne bua se keh rahey they. Aap ka kya concern hai?" She decided not to keep these matters unrevealed until Surya got back with his proposal.

Surya and Gayatri looked at each other. "Naina Didi! Aap humare baton ko bura mut maniyega. Hum hai hi purani khayalon ki. Hum jaantey hai aap Mumbai mein reh kar bahut sophisticated hogaye hai. Magar humara sanskar aur reeti, rivazon ko bhulnay ki jaroorat toh nahin hai na? Main apni beti ko aisi pariwar mein deney ke liye hichak raha hoon."

Naina flared her nostrils, "aapka matlab?"

Surya was embarrassed but hesitantly revealed his objections, "Yahin ki' yeh musalman aur Bengali logon ke saat rista jodna..yeh kahan ki vyavahar hai? Maanta hoon bua ne apna bhai ki  parwarish ko bhul kar apni marzi ki rista jode liya tha. Kulantar vivah karliya tha. Iska matlab yeh toh nahin aap sab pura rasamein badal daaley? Main kaise apni beti ko aapke hawaley kardoon. Wo bhi aagey jaakar yahin dastur ko apnalegi."

Naina furiously retorted, "hum humara sanskar nahin bhula tha. Hum bachon ke kushi ki kadar karte hai. Reeti rivazein humney banaya hai apna comfort ke liye. Yeh sab sab kul-varne cheesey humney banaya hai. Aap jaise conservative nahin hai hum."

Devyani thought Naina became rude and tried to calm down her. "Naina! Batein kahan se kahan tak chali jaa rahi hai? Tum jaantey hai bhai ka pariwar kitna orthodox hai. Phir bhi kyon itna gussa kar rahi ho?" she turned to Surya to convince him, "Surya beta! Main jaanti hoon ki tumhey iss pariwar ki rivozon se kuch pareshan hai. Magar beta! Bachon ke barein mein bhi socho. Hum kabhi unke sapnon ko roka nahin. Abb donon ek dooserey se bahut pyar karte hai. Unki sapnon ko nahin thodo."

Surya understood what Devyani meant, "Bua! Mujhey wapas jaakar apna biradari mein sar utha kar jeena hai na?  Kya jawab doonga iss khandan ke barein mein? Maanta hoon donon bachey ek dooserey se pyar kartay hai. Magar ussey bhi pariwar ki izzat ke barein mein sochna chahiye na? Mujhey yakein hai ki Kripa meri baat kabhi nahin taalegi. Ussey apni pariwar ki izzat ki kadar hai." He proudly looked at Kripa who walked down along with Angad, Kartik and Aaliyah. Anittah rolled her eyes with anguish behind them. She brought them after informed about the arguments among the elders.

Angad understood the situation was against them. He moved closer to Kripa as if indicating his possessiveness on her. Kripa helplessly looked at Angad. All elders stared at Angad and Kripa. Naina was still couldn't digest Surya's accuse about her family. Devyani's eyes were moistened at hard statements about her family and culture. She decided to fight for Angad and Kripa and walked towards them. She brought them to Surya, "inn bachon ke ankhon mein dekhkar tumhara phaisla sunao, Surya! Bachon ka dil mut dukhao."

Surya dropped his hand around Kripa, "Yeh meri beti hai, Bua! Yeh mujhey samajhti hai. Mujhey usper fakre hai." Angad worriedly looked at Kripa. His eyes silently asked for assurance from Kripa. She helplessly looked at him though her eyes promised her devotion.

Surya was adamant to postpone the matter for time being, "Bua! Mujhey kuch waqt deejiye. Main jaldi aapko mera phaisla ke barein mein khabar kardoonga."

Naina felt insulted and interfered, "jaroor, Surya! Koyi jaldi nahin hai. Angad ka shadi toh sabke baad hogi. Pehla mein apni betiyon ko vida karna chahti hoon. Phir Kartik aur aakhir mein Angad ka shadi karvana chahti hoon. Tum aaram se humey khabar desakta hai." She sounded a bit sarcastic while explaining her plans.

Surya's ego was hurt, "kush hoon, Didi! Kum se kum aap ne yeh rivaaz ka khayal rakha hai."

Dilip and Devyani exchanged looks when situation turned into bitter. Naina fumed at Surya's sarcasm, "Kiss rivazon ka baat kar raha hai, Surya? Kya, Kripa pehla baar humara ghar tumhara aazna lekar aayi thi? Mein kabhi apni betiyon ko paraya ghar aise nahin bheja tha. Jo bhi mera bachon ke saat horaha hai wo humara support se ho raha hai." Angad felt bad for pointing Kripa and hurtfully looked at Naina, "Mom! Aap jantey hai ki Kripa humara ghar Dadi se milney aayi thi." Naina didn't like his support to Kripa, "haan dikhaney mein toh reason wahi tha. Magar mann mein iss ghar ki bahu banney ke aas se hi aayi thi."

"Meri beti bhi iss ghar humare izazat lekar hi aayi hai, Nanina Didi! Tab bhi humey shanka thi ki aap ke vicharon pur. Humari beti pur humey behud viswas hai. Wo kabhi galat kadam nahin uthayegi." Surya proudly supported his daughter. Angad also proudly looked at Kripa as remembered her controlling over his impatience. His lips twitched with smile. Kripa confused for Angad's smile and lowered her head when Naina furiously stared at both of them.

Surya turned to Gayatri and asked to pack their things, "Main station jaakar booking karvakey aata hoon." Angad immediately warned, "mama ji! Iski jaroorat nahin hai. Hum online kar saktey hai. Station pur  bhi online reservation  kartey hai." he walked to his room expecting Surya to follow him. Dilip also followed them. Gayatri and Kripa walked to their rooms to pack their things. Others disbursed to their rooms with a sigh. After half an hour of discussions and Dilip's suggestions, Angad booked tickets for next day. Angad was happy for stopping Kripa in their house for one more day.

Arman was thrilled to see Ridhima dressed up in dark green kanjeevaram silk embroidered sari with mustard border. She got blouse stitched in two hours by paying additional amount there itself. Ridhima looked typical south Indian bride in the new sari, French knot braid, flowers, bangles and big bindi on forehead. He whistled with excitement, "kitni sunder lag rahi hai meri pyari Ridhima!!" She blushed, "darrta tha tumhey pasand hogi ki nahin." He walked to her and kissed her cheeks aloud, "you are gorgeous. Lagta hai yahan ka shopping tumhey acha laga hai?" She shook her head and walked into bed room, "padosi mein ek achisi ladki hai, Sheetal. M.B.B.S. complete kiya hai aur residency ke liye wait kar rahi hai. Uski shadi honey wala hai aur issiliye residency yahan leney ki soch rahi hai. Tumhara jaaney ke baad turant wo yahan aayi thi. Hum kum samay mein bahut ache dost bangaye hai. Wo hi mujhey shopping lekey gayi thi aur yeh blouse bhi usne silwaayi. Very nice and pretty girl."Ridhima explained about her shopping while Arman removing his shoes.

She hurried him after detailed explanation. "Abb tum bhi jaldi se taiyyar hojao. Tumharey liye bhi mainey shopping kiya hai." She showed silk pajama and kurta. He checked his clothes, "main aisi hi theek hoon na?" She rolled her eyes, "nahin, hospital ki kapadon mein?"

He quickly took shower and wore the cream silk dress. Ridhima adorably looked at him. "Maussi se baat huyi thi. Humse milney wo bhi mandir ayengey. Mandir ke baad hum sab restaurant jaa rahey hai. Wo sab tumse milney ko bechain horahey hai." Ridhima was pleased to hear about the news. Arman continued as combing his hair, "Aaj Misthy ko bataya humare barein mein." Ridhima surprisingly asked, "humarey barein mein? Kya bataya?" Arman paused combing and mischievously looked at her, "humara raat ki barein mein." Ridhima turned into red and he winked at her. "Tumhey kya lagta hai main aisi batein ussey bata doon?" He walked to her and cupped her face. Ridhima shyly shook her head. He embraced her and kissed on her forehead, "jee karta hai tumhey aise hi dekhta rahoon. Mandir kal chalengey?" Ridhima pulled his cheeks and kissed on his chin. "Mandir ka plan kabhi cancel nahin karna chahiye." Arman agreed, "Right, I have to thank God for getting my love back."

Both headed to Birla Temple and met Saxena family at the foot of the temple hill. Padma pleased to meet Ridhima and blessed both of them. They bought puja thali and offered to the Deity. Both Ridhima and Arman silently prayed in mind for each other's welfare and togetherness for life. They all went to nearby Restaurant. Nishant and Arman talked about different cases in their profession. Padma grilled Ridhima indirectly about her father and understood he was the same Shashank as he was 25 year ago. Ridhima was surprised to know that Padma knew Shashank very well.

"Lagta hai tumhara papa ko maussi se kabhi ishq hua tha. Humara Naana ney undonon ka shadi nahin karvayi. Tumhara papa wo baat ko lekar aaj tak hum pur naraz hai." Arman explained about Padma and Shashank on the way back home. Ridhima was surprised to know the details. "Kya papa ne issi liye tumhey pasand nahin karta hai?" Ridhima tried to link the past to the reason behind Shashank's rejection. Arman shrugged his shoulders, "shayad issi liye hur jagah mujhse disagree karta hai."

Arman noticed Ridhima was seriously immersed in her thoughts throughout they reached home. Ridhima silently walked into the bed room to change her clothes. He grabbed Ridhima's hand and she confusedly paused at him. He cupped her cheek with one hand and affectionately stroked her tendrills, "hey, Ridhi! Jo bhi tumhara papa humara barein mein sochey, hum toh ek hogaya na? Abb humey koyi juda nahin kar sakta hai." Ridhima inattentively shook her head. He took the return Prasad from her and took the pinch of kumkum from the paper fold and put on Ridhima's hair part. Ridhima was shocked at his sudden act and touched her part of hair filled with sindoor.

He kissed her forehead, "Aaj se yeh sindoor har waqt tumhari maang pur sajana hai. Mainey Mandir mein hi teri maang bharna chahta tha. Pata nahin kyon maussi ki samney nahin karpaya." Ridhima recovered from the shock and smiled, "karliya hota kum se kum ussi waqt maussi ki ashirvad mil jaati." He pinched her cheeks, "We can take blessings even tomorrow too." She caressed her hair part again and shyly shook her head. She bent down to touch his feet. Arman was startled, "yeh kya kar rahi hai?" Ridhima stood up and embraced him, "mera pati ka ashirvaad pehla ley rahi hoon." He softly kissed her lips, "you are becoming emotional." He lifted her and took to the bedroom, "Aaj humara pehla raaat hogi."

Dilip took Surya out after dinner to release the tensions between them. Devyani lay on the bed tired from all arguments since morning. Angad's plans to meet Kripa hadn't succeeded till he took initiative to speak to Gayatri in person. He saw Kripa snuggled her mother from behind while Gayatri was massaging Devyani's feet.

"Atta!" (Maami or bua in Telugu language) Angad affectionately addressed Gayatri in Telugu. Gayatri and Kripa looked at him with surprise. He secretly winked at Kripa.  Kripa blushed at his buttering behavior and moved to lean on Devyani. Gayatri noticed their eye signs and smiled adorably in her mind. "Aao, Angad beta! Yahan baitho." She affectionately received him and gave place beside her. He sat between Kripa and her without moving his looks from Kripa. Devyani turned to Angad as snuggled Kripa's waist with her hands.

Angad reluctantly turned his looks onto Gayatri. "Atta! Aap toh mama ko manaa sakti hai na?" He pleadingly asked Gayatri. Gayatri cupped his cheek, "bahut pyar karti hai Kripa se?" Angad's eyes moistened and looked lovingly at Kripa. "khud se bhi jada, Atta!" Gayatri smiled as stroked his hair. "main janta hoon, beta! Kripa bahut bhagyasaali hai." Angad pouted, "phir aap maama ko manati kyon nahin? Kyon usney jidd pur adaaney ko chod diya? Kya aap bhi such much wo sab maantey hai jismein hum koyi dilchaspi nahin rakhta?"

Gayatri understood his concerns and patted his back. "Main maana ya na maanne se kya hota hai, Angad? Iss pariwar mein mard ka hi raaz chalta hai. Bahut ziddi log hai. Kissi ki baat nahin maanengey. Tum tumhara dada ji ko jaantey nahin wo bahut strict tha. Main hi jaanti hoon wo kitna apni behen se pyar karta tha. Phir bhi ek baar bhi milney ko khoshish nahin kiya tha. Behen ki naam lekar hi aakhri saas liya tha magar apna zidd ko thoda nahin. Uski hi beta hai apna mama ji. Meri kehna kahan suntay hai?" She explained her helplessness. Angad sighed and sorely looked at Kripa. Kripa's eyes showed shadows of tears. Angad stared at Devyani for her reaction. She caressed Kripa's arm and faintly smiled at Angad, "main bhi kuch nahin karpa rahi hoon. Apni beti apni marzi hai main kaise force karoon?"

Angad inhaled deep in his lungs, "mein bhi wahi khoon ka hoon, Atta! Dadi! Mein bhi apna decision pur stubborn hoon. Kripa ki alawa main kissi ki barein main soch bhi nahin sakta. Magar Atta! App ek vachan dengi na?" Gayatri lovingly took his hands in hers, "Bolo Angad! Mujhse jitna hosakey utna main karoongi." Angad smiled as pressed her hands "tumse jaroor ho sakti hai. Kripa ki shadi jaldi bazi mein kissi aur ke saat nahin hona chahiye. Main pura koshish karunga maama ji ko mananey'apna tareeka se." Gayatri worried and he reassured her, "galat tareeke se nahin, apne riti rivazon ko khayal rakh ke."

"Atta! Kya main Kripa ko kuch minuton ke liye apne saat lejaasakta hoon?" Kripa got up in haste and looked at Gayatri for her response. Gayatri worriedly thought for a moment, " mamaji aaney se pehle wapas hona chahiye." Angad pressed his hands, "Don't worry. I will send her back before maama comes."

He dragged Kripa with him, "chalo jaldi. We have less time." Gayatri and Devyani adorably looked at their way with pleasing eyes at their affections.

Angad closed doors behind them and cupped her cheeks, "darr lag rahi hai na?" Kripa looked at him with tearful eyes. "Mujhey bhi!" He stroked the tear drop at the edge of her eye corner. "Roz phone kartey rehna. I call you every night before bed. Mere phone ka response jaroor dena. I hope these misunderstandings will be cleared soon." She started sobbing and embraced him. He locked her in his arms and kissed her hair.
