Chapter 2: The missing world (arsh ff)

In the evening:

Armaan's house, Mussorie

Armaan opened the main door of the house with the help of keys with pin drop silence and checked while taking soft steps, inside that whether the old man of his house was there or not. He found that the old man was facing his back towards the door and was chopping the vegetable in the kitchen.

Armaan sighed, "Bach gaya", and was about to leave the spot quickly but quietly, the same time a giggle stopped him, "Welcome home!!"

Armaan shut his eyes tightly in annoyance but meanwhile with amazement he turned and asked, "How do you know that I'm here?"

"Because...", Daddu stopped himself,  leaving his job and he turned his face towards Armaan and completed in a taunt, "Because...I was looking on this side, not hearing. Idiot"

"Whatever!!", Armaan rolled his eyes.

"Not got the job, today also?", Daddu asked would be an understatement, he stated.

Armaan left with open mouth and he taunted, "Mere piche jasus laga rakhe hai?"

"Chalo! Taunt ke bahane hi sahi, pata to chala khadoos ke paas sense of humor bhi hai", he chuckled while handling the knife again and started chopping.

"Leave your crap and tell me how do you know?", Armaan said sternly.

"No one is going to give you the job, not even for a cook?", replied Daddu.

"Why so?", asked Armaan.

"Khana banana ata...to main yahan hota?", he laughed carelessly, while avoiding to answer.

Armaan shut his eyes and replied rudely, "Everything is not fun...Mr. Sharma"

"Oh Really, so you know that?", Daddu retorted back while dropping the knife from his hand.

And he confirmed, "Are you able to hear the truth? Then listen. No one is going to give you job just on the basis of your name, Mr. Mallik--", he spilled the bitter truth but stopped.

He corrected himself, "Correction...Dr. Mallik!! You have to work with your whole identity."

Armaan lowered his eyes and was about to leave in angst a calm voice reached his ears, "Mujhe nahin pata kya hua tumhari life mein which you don't want to tell anyone...but don't lie to yourself. Accept the truth and move on."

"I've already moved on", he retorted back.

"No you didn't. I'm saying this with experience", he whispered.

Armaan ignored him and left the spot in haste, leaving the old man, helplessly.

In the Night:

Little Angels Orphanage, Mussorie

Shilpa was sitting around the bonfire, wrapping herself in a shawl in the garden area of the orphanage, along with the kids. The kids were playing different games, as usual avoiding the winter of Mussorie, and this time they opted the chit game.

One of them winked in the direction of Anya and she showed the thumbs up sign.

Anya stepped towards Shilpa and making a innocent face said, "Please play with us"

Shilpa held her cheek and said, "Naughty girl! Subah bhi innocent face banake game khilwaya tha Drama queen...not now"

"Pleaaase", they all said in unison making innocent faces at which Shilpa laughed and nodded her head in affirmation.

Masi smiled while seeing that her dearest Shilpa, bundle of joy has laughed after months and thanked to the God.

"So the rules are. we are going to take out the name chit from the bowl and then the person has to do, whatever has written in the chit of the second bowl", explained one of the kids.

"Okay!", Shilpa agreed.

The boy included Shilpa's name chit and shuffled the bowl and took out the first chit. He looked here and there and showed the chit to one of his friend as he has already exchanged someone else's chit with Shilpa's name and announced it.

Shilpa was amazed that merely in the first chance how it could be her name but she accepted it as co-incidence. The boy took out the chit from the punishment bowl, which was singing a song. The reality was, all the kids had greed for their favorite song which Shilpa used to sing when she used to be sad and was trying to prove herself strong.

This time also they lied about the chit but this time they caught red handed and she scolded, "ye kya chal raha hai?"

"Sorry Di!", they said in unison with gloomy face and one of them said, "Actually we want to hear that song. Please sing for us"

"Pleaaaseee", they requested a lot but after loads of ifs and buts she agreed not for the children but for her silly decision to move on with the past.

Armaan's House

Armaan was trying to sleep but the slumber was far away from his eyes. After every moment, those two words of that old man were echoing in his ears, Move on.

The past 3 years with or without Riddima weren't easy to forget for Armaan. After her rejection he threw out everything belonged to her from his life, but in this process he forgot his life. He claimed that he had moved on but in the reality he didn't.

To forget those bitter and sour memories, he tried to sleep but something was reaching his eyes which disturbed him. He collected himself from the bed and leaned his head out of the window to examine from where the voice was coming.

Little Angel's Orphanage

Ho ho o...
Heer Heer na akho adiyo
Main te Sahiba hoi
Ghodi leke aave le jaaye
Ghodi leke aave le jaaye

Armaan decided to leave the house and while grabbing his jacket he locked the house and ran to find the whereabouts of the voice.

Ho mainu le jaaye Mirza koi
Le jaaye Mirza koi
Le jaaye Mirza koi...

While singing Shilpa lost herself in the memories of past, the way Armaan draped his jacket around her when he by mistake laminated her kurti on the road.

Heer Heer na aakho adiyo
Main te Sahiba hoi
Ghodi leke aave le jaaye
Ghodi leke aave le jaaye

He ran in the same direction of her voice and blabbered to himself, "Mujhe aise kyu lag raha hai ke ye awaaz kahi suni hai", but he avoided it and moved forward to stop her song.

Ohde je hi main te oh mere varga
Hans da ai sajra savere varga
Ankha bandh kar laa te thande hanere varga

Shilpa smiled but a teardrop fell from her eyes when his adorable eyes and smile took her away from herself.

Ohde je hi main te oh mere varga
Hans da ai sajra savere varga
Ankha bandh kar laa te thande hanere varga

She tried to control herself but memories were not leaving her, and she decided to get strong by caressing her tears.

Ohde je hi main te oh Mirza mere varga
Ohde je hi main te oh Mirza mere varga

Armaan was so close to the Little Angels, but in the fog of Mussorie nothing was visible to him, but he could hear the pain in the chocked voice.

Ho Heer Heer na akho adiyo
Main te Sahiba hoi
Ghodi leke aave le jaaye
Ghodi leke aave le jaaye

Shilpa was singing and singing to prove the god that she will always be strong and can deal with his hurdles.

Ho mainu le jaaye Mirza koi
Le jaaye Mirza koi
Le jaaye Mirza koi...

Armaan has almost reached the spot and the voice has become clearer, and with every second he was feeling a connection with the voice but he was confused about the reason.

Naal naal tur na te vith rakhna
Hadh rakh lena vich dil rakhna
Chhanve chhanve paave, assi teri parchhave, tur naa...

She became lost in the song and her heart forced her to imagine, walking with Armaan, hands in hands but the lovely picture vanished with the fog and faded her smile.

Naal naal tur na te vith rakhna
Hadh rakh lena vich dil rakhna
Chhanve chhanve paave, assi teri parchhave, tur naa!!

Two feet were coming in her voice's direction and somehow reached outside the orphanage but the dark night, fog and distance closed the doors of visibility for Armaan.

Ohde je hi main te oh mere varga haaye
Ohde je hi main te oh mere varga

She kept singing, and was lost in his memories with moist eyes whereas Armaan kept trying to see her face, as she was sitting facing her back to him, so he failed.

Ho Heer Heer na akho adiyo
Main te Sahiba hoi
Ghodi leke aave le jaaye haaye
Le jaaye Mirza koi
Le jaaye Mirza koi
Le jaaye Mirza koi...

Watchman wasn't allowing Armaan to enter inside the orphanage, so he left. Whereas, the memories forced Shilpa to lose her strength and the tears started rolling down her cheeks.

Heer Heer na akho adiyo
Main te Sahiba hoi
Ghodi leke aave le jaaye
Ghodi leke aaye le jaaye
Oh ho...

Armaan left and Shilpa chocked while singing and ran inside, gasping. Her shawl fell on the grass but she ran as she has not aware about her surroundings.

Aditi
